Kapuso director Louie Ignacio (SOP, Party Pilipinas) was reported to have resigned from GMA7′s newly launched Sunday variety show Party Pilipinas. However, rumor has it that he did not really resign but got kicked out of the show. Could it be true?
But if last Sunday’s ratings are any indication, it could be. We don’t know. But what we do know is that Party Pilipinas got another beating from ASAP XV among Mega Manila households according to AGB-Nielsen. Party Pilipinas registered 10.4% while ASAP XV 15.3%. ASAP XV remains the Sunday variety leader.

MANILA, Philippines – As mudslinging among candidates intensify, so are the attacks against the media. Media watchdog Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR) said that in situations like this, it is usually the media that is caught in the firing line.
For some candidates, reports favoring them are considered balanced, but reports against them are described as unfair.
“Ang trabaho kasi ng media dapat i-report lang, i-report kung ano ang mga nangyayari. Di naman sinabing ire-report iyong nangyayari ayon sa gusto mo. So kung di naaayon sa gusto mo, baka naman iyon talaga ang nangyari,” said Luis Teodoro, CMFR deputy director.
Based on CMFR’s monitoring of the news coverage of private stations ABS-CBN, GMA-7, and government-station NBN-4 from March 1 to 12, NBN-4 devoted more time to election-related stories at 34.2%.
ABS-CBN’s coverage of election-related stories was at 31.8% while GMA-7’s was at 19.7%.
The CMFR said 90% of ABS-CBN’s election stories were neutral while GMA-7 had 64% neutral reports. For NBN-4, 41% of its reports were seen as neutral.
The CMFR said the reporting done by the major networks was generally responsible during the period.
CMFR’s findings are reflected in an April 2010 survey of Pulse Asia, which found 63% of respondents believe that ABS-CBN has been the most credible in covering the polls, followed by GMA-7 at 55%, and NBN-4 at 27%.
A recent survey by Manila Standard Today also showed a similar result: 60-63% of television viewers said they trust ABS-CBN News programs, while 35-38% found GMA-7’s programs trustworthy.
The CMFR said the high credibility of television networks, and their being the major sources of news, are among the reasons why they are always being attacked. “Pagka lahat ng kampo sinasabing biased ka, ibig sabihin nire-report mo lahat ng nakikita mo,” said Teodoro.
The CMFR added that the strength and credibility of a news organization depend on how it can report the news fairly amid accusations of being biased.

ABS-CBN Leads Historic Halalan 2010 Election Coverage
ABS-CBN is the most credible TV network in giving election coverage according to Pulse Asia survey.
Creating an army of citizen journalists, breaking on-the-edge news reports, and courageously setting the news agenda best define ABS-CBN’s year-long election coverage that goes high-gear on Monday (May 10) with technological innovations that will change the way elections are covered in the country.
ABS-CBN will be using what is probably the biggest touch screen television ever used on Philippine TV news and a new broadcast technology called “augmented reality,” which combines computer-generated imagery with live video in real time, to report on the country’s first computerized polls that will determine the next leaders of the nation.
Using the touch screen TV, ABS-CBN anchors can easily pull up information on the candidates and comments from social media networks while a report progresses. Augmented reality, meanwhile, places an anchor in a virtual environment where he or she can interact with computer graphics that show the latest updates on the elections.
Aside from pioneering the hi-tech coverage of the elections, ABS-CBN has also scored several firsts in the past 12 months since it launched the election advocacy “Boto Mo, i-Patrol Mo: Ako ang Simula.”
ABS-CBN was the first to create a movement of citizen journalists the first to organize debates that used new media to engage viewers via Twitter and Facebook, the first to measure audience instant reactions during debates via WARS, and the first to hold an election concert that gathered its thousands of citizen patrollers.
Apart from courageous and ground-breaking news stories, ABS-CBN has successfully blended old and new media in engaging audiences, get instant feedbacks, and solicit questions for candidates guesting in their various news and talk programs.
ABS-CBN has more than 81,000 active boto patrollers, 67,720 fans on Facebook and some 11,861 followers on Twitter as of 6 May 2010, all who are ready to share information on the elections from their vicinities.
When it comes to election coverage, more Filipinos (63%) believe ABS-CBN is the most credible TV network in covering the election campaign as shown in a Pulse Asia nationwide survey conducted between 21-25 February 2010. The figure is way higher than compeition’s 55%.
More people switch to ABS-CBN’s flagship news program “TV Patrol World” when it comes to news. TVP even climbed to 2nd spot following Agua Bendita last week among all TV programs, according to TNS national ratings. “TV Patrol World” not only won nationally, but it aslo ruled in Mega Manila with a rating of 25.8% vs. competition’s 20.6% last Thursday.
ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs head Maria Ressa said hundreds of reporters in all ABS-CBN media platforms (television, radio, cable TV, online) will be deployed in different areas in the country to give situationers and updates.
They lead ABS-CBN’s army of change composed of professional and citizen journalists, while celebrities like Donita Rose, Phoem Barranda, and Janus Del Prado, rock stars Ney Dimaculangan of 6cyclemind and Kean Cipriano of CallaLily will join as celebrity patrollers.
Working hand-in-hand with ABS-CBN for this monumental coverage are cause partners Globe Telecommunications, Bayan Communications, STI, The Philippine Star, Manila Bulletin, Business World, Pulse Asia, University of the Philippines School of Economics, YouthVote Philippines, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, the Commission on Elections, and the National Movement for Free Elections.
Google, Map Central, REACT, Kontra-Daya, and Life Haven have also joined the cause to boost the online coverage of ABS-CBN Halalan 2010.

MANILA, Philippines – On May 10, 2 rival networks in the country used “virtual reporters” in their respective coverages of the first fully-automated elections in the country.
ABS-CBN said it used a technology called “virtual presence,” while GMA 7 claimed it employed the use of a “hologram.”
Joel Lamdani, vice president of Orad Hi-Tech Systems Ltd., explained that virtual presence is a feature of an advanced technology called augmented reality (AR), which involves the integration of computer-generated graphics to real environments.
He said his company, which ABS-CBN tapped for its election coverage, has a patent on one of the technologies for AR, something he claims his company invented.
“[Augmented reality] gives you a lot of capabilities in production. [Those who use such technology] can do a lot of things, many sophisticated things you want to do in a studio,” Lamdani told abs-cbnNEWS.com.
In AR, Lamdani said a person or an object is “taken from a totally different location and then brought into the studio in a position.” This was made possible by bringing in a broadcast machine computer “with lots of video capability” and a “camera tracking technology” so they’d know how to align the virtual with the real world.
In the case of the Halalan 2010 coverage, ABS-CBN’s Jorge Cariño was “brought in” the studio as they give their latest updates on the May 10 polls to make it seem like they’re talking to ABS-CBN anchor Ted Failon face to face.
According to Lamdani, AR is being used by many big television stations in China and the United States. In the Philippines, ABS-CBN’s Halalan 2010 coverage is the first time that AR is used in news reporting.
Although it may seem new, the AR technology was actually first used in 1998, when Barbara Walters, who was in New York, interviewed someone from Washington. Lamdani added that the AR technology also traces its roots from “Star Trek,” a popular science fiction series, which popularized virtual reality imagery through teleportation.
Not a hologram?
GMA 7 has claimed that it used the hologram technology, which involves the use of 3D images and 360-degree cameras.
Anchor Jessica Soho, in a video posted at GMANews.tv, said they used the same technology employed by the Cable News Network (CNN) in its coverage of the 2008 US polls.
“Gumagamit ito [hologram] ng 3D image na pinapadala dito sa studio. Parang andito sila mismo sa studio, pero sa katunayan, nasa ibang lugar sila (This hologram uses a 3D image that is brought here in the studio. It’s as if they’re really here in the studio, when in fact, they’re in another place),” Soho said in the said video.
Lamdani, however, begged to differ. He said that GMA 7 and CNN didn’t use holograms but something which he called a “chroma key” technology.
“Channel 7 didn’t use a hologram. They used chroma key technology,” he said, adding: “Hologram is very expensive. You have to cover the person with 360-degree cameras and transport him. [GMA 7] used more of a chroma key because there’s no smooth camera movement. It’s not exactly what a hologram does.”
Chroma key, often referred to as green screen or blue screen, is defined as a “technique for composting 2 images or frames together in which a color from one image is removed, revealing another image behind it.” (View full definition here)
The technology is commonly used for weather forecast broadcasts, where the presenter stands in front of a large blue or green background, which appears as a large map. — By Ma. Rosanna Mina and Karen Flores, abs-cbnNEWS.com. Interview by Isagani de Castro Jr., abs-cbnNEWS.com/Newsbreak.

COLGATE-PALMOLIVE BALIK ABS-CBN
It’s quite a shock that after almost a year of dispute, COLGATE-PALMOLIVE Phils. Inc. went back to ABS-CBN for its advertising services. It can be remembered last year that because of Ad rates disagreement with ABS-CBN, COLGATE-PALMOLIVE Inc. pulled out all their TV advertisements estimated to cost around P400 million from ABS-CBN
.
Accordingly the multi-national toothpaste and shampoo producer demanded Media Giant ABS-CBN to slash off its ad rates by half as a reward for its loyal subscription. But the idea was rejected by the TV Network considering that the company is strictly following the 18-minute rule advocated by the KBP. The Media Titan also argued that the proposal will be unfair for other loyal (but not exclusive) advertisers which may cause turmoil in the advertising market.
But this raged the multi-national shampoo and toothpaste producer, as they cancelled all their subscription schedules with ABS-CBN and find refuge in its main rival GMA Network. Since then all product brands produced by Palmolive-Colgate were exclusively seen on GMA’s TV Channels, Q11 and GMA-7.
But for the past few days Palmolive and Colgate product brands were once again spotted in channel 2’s commercial period indicating a renewal of partnership between the two business firms. The reason for this was the rumored wilting sales of Colgate and Palmolive brands which affected the financial condition the company. Accordingly the illogical strategic shift in advertising is the main cause of the down turn in sales .
Based from AGB Neilsen, ABS-CBN has the advantage in all economic classes from A to E especially in the upper economic classes, while GMA Network holds a significant margin in the Class E market which unfortunately has a lesser purchasing power. However the target market of CP are on classes C and D and since GMA Network is behind in these markets the volume of sales weakened. Realizing the mistake in its marketing strategy Colgate-Palmolive redirected its ad subscription back to ABS-CBN. However it was not certain if the subscription will once again be exclusive or it will be an open agreement with all existing TV Outfits, just like leading competitors UNILEVER and Proctor & Gamble.

I’m not saying na I’m a kapuso but I’m saying this as a person. May GOB BLESS YOU ALL…

lumlaban ngayon ang party pilipinas vs asap xv….gud 4 party pilipinas at may pinupuntahan ang kanilang effort…..pero napansin ko lang mas may buhay parin kasi ang asap xv great performers tlaga sila lagi ko nililipat channel tv ko comparing the 2 shows pwera bias pero asap parin kasi talaga maybe nagrerate nga ang pp ngayon siguro dahil ang mga taoy nageexpect or inaabangan kung may pagbabago ang pp kya nililipat nila ang channel nila…….appreciate ko ang venue na pp becoz malaki tlaga at in fairnes napupuno lagi compare to asap xv….yung la diva ng pp sumasayaw narin sila which is dati nang gnawa yan ng mga singers sa asap…..sa sayaw mas magagaling parin sa mga taga asap…….suggest ko lang para maungusan tlaga ng pp ang asap kailangan nyo magproduce ng kakaibang moves na hindi pwedeng icompare to asap dahil kau lng o kau lang unang nakagawa no……tnx and gudlak to ol..!!!!!!!
