In My Life may be one of the only two local movies in Box Office Mojo’s top 19 hit movies in the Philippines from September 16-20, 2009 but it sure gave all those Hollywood flicks a good shake. Kimmy Dora, Eugene Domingo’s first lead role, ruled the box office for the second straight week with over P20 million based on Box Office Mojo’s September 9-13 figures. Kimmy Dora now earned a total of PhP50,582,638 in its first two weeks of showing.

The local cinema, like always, got a beating from Hollywood blockbusters in August 19-23, 2009 based on Box Office Mojo Philippines.
Pixar’s newest animated flick Up emerged the most successful over that weekend collecting more than PhP46 million (using US$1=PhP48.5 conversion). Up was followed by action franchise G. I. Joe with almost PhP22 million. Star Cinema’s offering And I Love You So closed the top 3 with more than PhP10 million, with its total gross amounting to more than PhP36 million as of August 23.

‘Harry Potter 6′ Opens With P104.77-M, Boosting Franchise as Biggest as Ever!

“The Half-Blood Prince” is the full-fledged king of Philippine box-office! The sixth installment of the “Harry Potter” saga rewrote the record books, posting a royal P104.77-million nationwide four-day opening weekend (July 16-19) in 310 screens. This was announced today by Francis Soliven, general manager of Warner Bros. Philippines, the film’s local distributor.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen zooms past the P300 million mark yesterday, July 8, making it the second most successful film of all time in Philippine box office.
This is the second installment of the Transformers series. Revenge of the Fallen was released throughout the glibe last June 24, a coupe of years after the first film, which also became commercially successful, becoming the fourth largest movie during its time.

You Changed My Life is still dominates the chart. However, things are expected to change with the impending release of Hollywood sequels Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
