In My Life may be one of the only two local movies in Box Office Mojo’s top 19 hit movies in the Philippines from September 16-20, 2009 but it sure gave all those Hollywood flicks a good shake. The Star Cinema movie, topbilled by Vilma Santos, John Lloyd Cruz and Luis Manzana, generated almost PhP64 million* in its first five days of running, making it the most watched movie in the country over that period.
Previous ruler Kimmy Dora stepped down a notch to the second place after collecting over PhP11.5 …

Soul Siren Nina is a picture of fulfillment right now as she has been recently proclaimed the first female artist in the Philippines to receive a Diamond Record award for third album Nina Live!, which has sold 200,000 copies (and counting) to date.
An ASAP Sessionista, Nina was in tears after receiving the award on ASAP 09, the musical variety show she is a part of. Released in 2005, Nina Live! is the country’s fourth biggest selling album after Jose Mari Chan’s Christmas in Our Hearts and Constant Change, and Eraserheads’ …

Talentadong Pinoy registered 30.3%, a remarkable number in TV5 standards, putting the network back on the map of top-rating networks.
Talentadong Pinoy murdered two giant TV programs — Maalaala Mo Kaya and Bitoy’s Funiest Videos, which posted 15.2% and 21.4% respectively.

The release of TV ratings for yesterday, August 10, 2009, had been incredibly quick and early because of the public’s anticipation of how awesome or how awful Darna performed. And to all Kapusos’ satisfaction, it was awesome. Darna indeed soared in its first night of airing. (We can now imagine Wilma Galvante laughing out loud.)
Aside from topping TNS Mega Manila and coming in on second place in TNS National ratings, Darna also claimed AGB-Nielsen Mega Manila ratings with a staggering 44.1%. The pilot episode defeated Primetime Bida’s wonder boy Santino …

Many couch potatoes have the impression that GMA7 is the leader in Metro Manila ratings. Given the Mega Manila figures, many make the assumption that the Kapuso Network dominates the country’s capital. However, when we break down the ratings, it is not the case.
Mega Manila is composed of two regions — Metro Manila and the Suburbs. The Suburbs – the suburban zone – is the area surrounding Metro Manila, with a significant population size (households). It includes some parts of Rizal, Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, and a few others.

ABS-CBN’s primetime game show Pinoy Bingo Night, hosted by Kris Aquino, seems to be far from winning as ratings continue to plummet even in the National Ratings.
Yaya and Angelina, on the other hand, shout Bingo every night as “Hole in the Wall” continues to dominate the timeslot, forcing Bingo Night to switch scheds with Boys Over Flowers.
