The unrelenting rain can take credit for the unusually high ratings of primetime programs of both Kapuso and Kapamilya networks. From the news programs to Dahil May Isang Ikaw and Adik Sa ‘Yo, ABS-CBN and GMA shows boast of 30 plus figures.

24 Oras garners 34.8% outperforming TV Patrol World with 30.1%.

Rosalinda loses to Tayong Dalawa but it still managed to score 33.3%, a bit below Tayong Dalawa‘s 34.3%.

Adik Sa ‘Yo also finds a new confidence with its 30.9% rating, edging out Dahil May Isang Ikaw with 30.1%.

May Bukas Pa also registers 31.4% despite Darna‘s intimidating 40.5%.

Meanwhile, Dahil May Isang Ikaw was quick to bounce back. The powerhouse teleserye registered its highest rating with its fourth episode, posting a rating of 30.9%. Rival show Adik Sa ‘Yo was 1.1% short to topple the Kapamilya program.

Kapuso drama Rosalinda also performed a great feat and hit the 30s mark. The Carla Abellana-Geoff Eigenmann starrer scored 30.8%. However, it was not good enough to beat timeslot ruler Tayong Dalawa which was able to garner 32.1%.

Kapuso romantic comedy Adik Sa ‘Yo finally inched out Kapamilya newcomer Dahil May Isang Ikaw by 0.5%. Dahil May Isang Ikaw posted 26.9% while the Jolina-Marvin starrer scored 27.4%. It seems like the Kristine-Jericho comeback project has not picked up yet. The question is, will it?

Darna seems to be on a different league. Darna is on a safe 40% level. 24 Oras follows with 33.4%. Those were the only shows who managed to hit beyond the 30% mark. Tayong Dalawa almost made it with 29.8%, closing the top 3.

On its second day, Dahil May Isang Ikaw saw no change in their ratings. Like yesterday, the powerhouse drama registered 28.8%, beating its Kapuso rival Adik Sa ‘Yo by half a point.

Meanwhile, Darna is still the ruling force in the ratings game, scoring 41.6%. However, it seems like Santino is regaining its strength gradually. May Bukas Pa hit 29%, a big jump from its 25.8% yesterday. Is May Bukas Pa slowly gaining back its lost audiences?

Katorse remains beneath All My Life. Katorse, also on its second episode, posted 19.3%, a bit lower than its pilot. All My Life scored 21.4%.

Tayong Dalawa is steady at second place with 33.3%. 24 Oras completed the top 3 with 32.2%.

Although Darna dropped a bit in the ratings game last Friday, the Marian Rivera-starrer remained the most popular television program last Friday, August 20, 2009 based on the figures released by AGB-Nielsen Media Research.

The Pinay superheroine lost almost 5 points that day with 39.4% but still miles away from phenomenal inspirational soap opera May Bukas Pa which only managed to collect 26.3%.

Tayong Dalawa was at a far second with 32.8%, defeating romantic comedy Adik Sa ‘Yo.

Only You pulled off a graceful exit as it outperformed Mexican drama remake Rosalinda. Only You‘s finale registered 29.6%, almost 2 points higher than the Carla Abellana starrer.

TV5′s unwavering effort to penetrate the ratings game finally pays off. Reality show Talentadong Pinoy, hosted by Kapamilya star Ryan Agoncillo, once again overtook all ABS-CBN and GMA7 shows as it reached the top of the most watched list last weekend, based on the figures released by AGB-Nielsen Media Research. Talentadong Pinoy registered 30.3%, a remarkable number in TV5 standards, putting the network back on the map of top-rating networks.

Talentadong Pinoy murdered two giant TV programs — Maalaala Mo Kaya and Bitoy’s Funiest Videos, which posted 15.2% and 21.4% respectively.

Other highlights last Saturday include:

• Agimat: Ang Mga Alamat Ni Ramon Revilla – Tiagong Akyat (ABS-CBN) posted a very modest rating, 17.9%, a bit behind Pinoy Records (GMA-7)  with 18.6% and Are You The Next Big Star? (GMA-7) with 18.1%;
• Banana Split scored one more time. The gag show which is now on its fourth season garnered 15.2%;
• Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (GMA-7) killed all the luster off of Vilma: A Woman For All Seasons (ABS-CBN). The magazine show posted 19.2% defeating the documentary special which only managed to hit 16.2%;

The Sunday list tells a different story albeit less action-packed. The Kapuso network almost swept the evening lineup with ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best getting in the way.

Rewind to Friday, Tayong Dalawa finally bends to GMA7. Tayong Dalawa scored 26.3%, way below its average rating in Mega Manila. Rivals Adik Sa ‘Yo and Rosalinda posted 28.8% and 30.1% respectively.

Survivor Philippines Season 2 failed to survive the first day of battle against Kapamilya shows, many of which managed to earn a 30+ in the tv ratings game. Survivor debuted with a weak rating of 20.1%, way behind The Wedding with a 2.6% edge over the new Kapuso reality program.

Tayong Dalawa was the greatest gainer of all the primetime shows, posting a 37.9% rating. Adik Sa ‘Yo, which managed to register only 20.5%,  took a hard punch against Tayong Dalawa, losing the battle for its primetime slot dominance.

The release of TV ratings for yesterday, August 10, 2009, had been incredibly quick and early because of the public’s anticipation of how awesome or how awful Darna performed. And to all Kapusos’ satisfaction, it was awesome. Darna indeed soared in its first night of airing. (We can now imagine Wilma Galvante laughing out loud.)

Aside from topping TNS Mega Manila and coming in on second place in TNS National ratings, Darna also claimed AGB-Nielsen Mega Manila ratings with a staggering 44.1%. The pilot episode defeated Primetime Bida’s wonder boy Santino of May Bukas Pa (24.6%) and former stone-swallower Angel Locsin of Only You (24.5%). The two Kapamilya shows were pushed to the bottom half of the top 10 list, paving ways for 24 Oras and Rosalinda and allowing them to rise.

Now the question is: Is it done? Has Darna saved GMA7′s ailing ratings in Mega Manila? Is this the start of another era of Kapuso domination of AGB Mega Manila ratings?

Not too quick, some say. Not too quick.

Although Darna‘s ratings are expected to peak when Marian Rivera actually appears on screen as Darna, others argue that the figures show how Darna stands alone in this battle. The superheroine seemed to not able to pull up the ratings of its fellow Telebabad series. Rosalinda did not even hit the 30% mark and Adik Sa ‘Yo remained submerged with 22.7%, making them good preys for other predatory powerhouse teleseryes that ABS-CBN has yet to launch.

Also, Kapuso shows, most of the time, follow a downward trend — debuting with spectacular ratings only to lose momentum and come crashing down in the end. However, bear in mind that this trend did not apply to Marian’s first two series — Marimar and Dyesebel, which premiered AND ended with whopping figures.

If there’s any consolation to Kapamilya viewers, Tayong Dalawa was standing strong at number 2. It is also important to mention that Marian Rivera‘s Darna did not debut as gloriously as Angel Locsin‘s version of the heroine. Angel’s Darna registered 47.1% in Mega Manila, 3% higher than Marian’s. When Angel Locsin first appeared in full Darna costume, the show broke records with 52.1%. Let’s see if Marian can top that.

No doubt, Darna is a battle won by GMA7. It is a success, as far as the pilot episode is concerned. But the Kapamilya network still has ammunition. Dahil May Isang Ikaw is set to premiere on August 24, followed by Katorse and Rubi.

It’s really hard to predict what’s going to happen from hereon. Thanks to Darna, the ratings game has just become a lot more teeth-clenchingly, seat-grippingly, jaw-droppingly exciting. Be sure to always check GoFigures.net.

Boys Over Flowers is back in the 30 plus ratings ground. The koreanovela steadily keeps blooming and spreading charm when it hit 30.5% last Thursday and sitting unthreatened in the no. 5 spot. Meanwhile TV Patrol World still occupied the no. 2 position with a 38.1% rating pushing back Only You in the no. 3 spot with a rating of 36.8%.

Adik Sa ‘Yo was the only primetime program that never hit the 20 plus rating. Adik Sa ‘Yo only registered a 18.1% rating, compared to other programs with ratings 21% up.

If you look at ABS-CBN’s ratings last Monday, you could think that the Kapamilya Network’s power begins to dawn on Mega Manila again. ABS-CBN Primetime Bida hit its highest since the Angel Locsin’s Darna triggered GMA7′s reign in the first half of this decade.

May Bukas Pa scored a whopping 36%, beating all hell out of Zorro with 28.7%.

Tayong Dalawa came in at no.2 with 34.4% putting Adik Sa ‘Yo to shame, which only managed to reach 23.1%.

Only You, garnering 33.2 %, seemed determined to embarrass Rosalinda with only 23.5%.

TV Patrol World completed the top 4 slots with 31.2%, defeating 24 Oras by a bit more than 1%.

ABS-CBN, however, fails to win the daytime block.
