‘Darna’ Dips Below 40; ‘Only You’ Ends Victoriously | August 20-21 AGB-Nielsen Mega Manila Ratings

Although Darna dropped a bit in the ratings game last Friday, the Marian Rivera-starrer remained the most popular television program last Friday, August 20, 2009 based on the figures released by AGB-Nielsen Media Research.

The Pinay superheroine lost almost 5 points that day with 39.4% but still miles away from phenomenal inspirational soap opera May Bukas Pa which only managed to collect 26.3%.

Tayong Dalawa was at a far second with 32.8%, defeating romantic comedy Adik Sa ‘Yo.

Only You pulled off a graceful exit as it outperformed Mexican drama remake Rosalinda. Only You‘s finale registered 29.6%, almost 2 points higher than the Carla Abellana starrer.

Survivor Philippines: Palau reset its timeslot standard with 27.2% leaving The Wedding behind.

‘Only You’ Leads Primetime Race; ‘Survivor 2′ Lost in the Game | August 19 TNS National TV Ratings

On its final week, Only You led the chase as the most watched primetime show, beating strong contenders both from kapuso and kamilya programs. Grabbing 35.6%, the Koreanovela remake placed itself on the no. 1 spot.

Tayong Dalawa was the silver medalist 34.9%, a 0.1% lead over Darna which was able to nab a 34.8% rating. the Pinay superheroine inched out May Bukas Pa which slipped to the no. 4 position with 34.4%.

Survivor Philippines Season 2 was nowhere to be found in the primetime show rankings.

‘Tayong Dalawa’ Moves Up; ‘Darna’ Slowly Gliding Down | August 14 TNS National TV Ratings

Tayong Dalawa edged out Darna in the National TV ratings game. Tayong Dalawa posted a 35.1% rating, climbing to the no. 2 position eclipsing Pinay Superhero Darna, which now glides down to no. 3 with 34.4% and now having only a slight lead over Only You with 34.1% which will end this week.

May Bukas Pa reclaimed the no. 1 spot and now again leads the Primetime Ratings game. Santino posted a 36.2% rating. Previous no. 1 holder TV Patrol World was down 4 places and held on to the no. 5 position with a rating of 33.8%.

‘Darna’ Saves GMA7′s Primetime Block | August 10 AGB-Nielsen Mega Manila Ratings

The release of TV ratings for yesterday, August 10, 2009, had been incredibly quick and early because of the public’s anticipation of how awesome or how awful Darna performed. And to all Kapusos’ satisfaction, it was awesome. Darna indeed soared in its first night of airing. (We can now imagine Wilma Galvante laughing out loud.)

Aside from topping TNS Mega Manila and coming in on second place in TNS National ratings, Darna also claimed AGB-Nielsen Mega Manila ratings with a staggering 44.1%. The pilot episode defeated Primetime Bida’s wonder boy Santino of May Bukas Pa (24.6%) and former stone-swallower Angel Locsin of Only You (24.5%). The two Kapamilya shows were pushed to the bottom half of the top 10 list, paving ways for 24 Oras and Rosalinda and allowing them to rise.

Now the question is: Is it done? Has Darna saved GMA7′s ailing ratings in Mega Manila? Is this the start of another era of Kapuso domination of AGB Mega Manila ratings?

Not too quick, some say. Not too quick.

Although Darna‘s ratings are expected to peak when Marian Rivera actually appears on screen as Darna, others argue that the figures show how Darna stands alone in this battle. The superheroine seemed to not able to pull up the ratings of its fellow Telebabad series. Rosalinda did not even hit the 30% mark and Adik Sa ‘Yo remained submerged with 22.7%, making them good preys for other predatory powerhouse teleseryes that ABS-CBN has yet to launch.

Also, Kapuso shows, most of the time, follow a downward trend — debuting with spectacular ratings only to lose momentum and come crashing down in the end. However, bear in mind that this trend did not apply to Marian’s first two series — Marimar and Dyesebel, which premiered AND ended with whopping figures.

If there’s any consolation to Kapamilya viewers, Tayong Dalawa was standing strong at number 2. It is also important to mention that Marian Rivera‘s Darna did not debut as gloriously as Angel Locsin‘s version of the heroine. Angel’s Darna registered 47.1% in Mega Manila, 3% higher than Marian’s. When Angel Locsin first appeared in full Darna costume, the show broke records with 52.1%. Let’s see if Marian can top that.

No doubt, Darna is a battle won by GMA7. It is a success, as far as the pilot episode is concerned. But the Kapamilya network still has ammunition. Dahil May Isang Ikaw is set to premiere on August 24, followed by Katorse and Rubi.

It’s really hard to predict what’s going to happen from hereon. Thanks to Darna, the ratings game has just become a lot more teeth-clenchingly, seat-grippingly, jaw-droppingly exciting. Be sure to always check GoFigures.net.

Boys Over Flowers is back in the 30 plus ratings ground. The koreanovela steadily keeps blooming and spreading charm when it hit 30.5% last Thursday and sitting unthreatened in the no. 5 spot. Meanwhile TV Patrol World still occupied the no. 2 position with a 38.1% rating pushing back Only You in the no. 3 spot with a rating of 36.8%.

Adik Sa ‘Yo was the only primetime program that never hit the 20 plus rating. Adik Sa ‘Yo only registered a 18.1% rating, compared to other programs with ratings 21% up.

ABS-CBN Primetime Bida Hits Its Highest in Years, Claims Top 4 Slots | August 3 AGB-Nielsen Mega Manila Ratings

If you look at ABS-CBN’s ratings last Monday, you could think that the Kapamilya Network’s power begins to dawn on Mega Manila again. ABS-CBN Primetime Bida hit its highest since the Angel Locsin’s Darna triggered GMA7′s reign in the first half of this decade.

May Bukas Pa scored a whopping 36%, beating all hell out of Zorro with 28.7%.

Tayong Dalawa came in at no.2 with 34.4% putting Adik Sa ‘Yo to shame, which only managed to reach 23.1%.

Only You, garnering 33.2 %, seemed determined to embarrass Rosalinda with only 23.5%.

TV Patrol World completed the top 4 slots with 31.2%, defeating 24 Oras by a bit more than 1%.

ABS-CBN, however, fails to win the daytime block.

The top 5 spots in TNS daytime programs list were occupied by 5 kapamilya shows yesterday, August 03, 2009. Eat Bulaga usually sits comfortably on the fourth spot but thanks to Salamat President Cory which scored high and was able to enter in the no. 4 spot with 19.3% ratings, the top half of the list was a solid Kapamilya bunch.

Wowowee remained the no. 1 most watched daytime program in the Philippines posting another high tv rating of 26.4%. It was followed by Kambal sa Uma with 20.8%.

In the primetime territory, May Bukas Pa was unstoppable after posting 44.4%. It was trailed by TV Patrol World with 39.7% trading places with Only You now on the no. 3 spot with 37%.

ABS-CBN2 Takes Over Primetime; GMA7 Remains Daytime Ruler | July 29 AGB-Nielsen Mega Manila Ratings

ABS-CBN Primetime Bida almost swept Wednesday ratings game with May Bukas Pa (33.6%) rejoicing on top. The inspirational drama inched out the Richard Gutierrez-starrer Zorro by more than 3%. Tayong Dalawa came in at 2nd with 32.2%. Only You, which nears its ending, settles at the third spot with 30.9%.

The drama triumvirate of the Kapamilya network (May Bukas Pa, Only You, and Tayong Dalawa) have been making waves in the ratings game the past several weeks. Before this month, Kapamilya programs occupying the top 3 had not happened in years, since the glory of Mulawin, Darna and Encantadia.

But its not just the drama programs. Romantic comedy shows Boys Over Flowers and The Wedding also won their respective battles. Even consistent loser TV Patrol World had a rare chance of beating 24 Oras last Wednesday by almost 2%.

What got in the way was Showbiz News Ngayon‘s defeat. OC to the Max outperformed SNN by less than 1%. It could have been a sweep if not for that.

But the daytime block remained a Kapuso territory. GMA7 almost swept the daytime game, too. Hole in the Wall spoiled Love or Bread with a 6.4% lead. Kung Aagawin Mo ang Lahat Sa Akin also made Maria de Jesus praying for dear life. The sine novela posted a rating that was more than double that of the Latin series’. ‘Tayong Dalawa’ Takes Tuesday Triumph | July 28 AGB-Nielsen Mega Manila Ratings

Tayong Dalawa dominated the AGB-Nielsen Mega Manila ratings yet again last Tuesday, July 28, 2009. The Kapamilya teleserye scored 32.7%, the highest that day.

On close second was Zorro with 32.4%. May Bukas Pa completed the top 3 with 31.5%.

Zorro and 24 Oras remain the only Kapuso programs that registered ratings above 30%. Rosalinda and Adik Sa ‘Yo only managed to hit 28.2% and 25.8% respectively.

Nearing its finale, Only You was able to reach 30% while The Wedding did not make it to pass the 20% mark, but still beat Cruel Love by a few decimals.

The daytime block remained a Kapuso territory with Kung Aagawin Mo ang Lahat sa Akin murdering Maria de Jesus. The sine novela scored 14% higher than its Latin American telenovela rival.

National Ratings Show No Movements; ABS-CBN Still on Top | July 28, TNS Nationwide TV Ratings

There are no movements in the Daytime and Primetime TV Ratings for July 28, 2009 Tuesday. The Top 3 spots for the Daytime Ratings were occupied by 3 Kapamilya shows: Wowowee (24.4%), Kambal sa Uma (22%) and Precious Hearts Romances (17.1%). While Eat Bulaga was in tight grip of the no. 4 spot with a rating of 16.5%, the no. 5 spot was taken over by Maria De Jesus Ang Anghel sa Lansangan posting a 15.1% tv rating.

Meanwhile, the Primetime TV Ratings game was again ruled by Kapamilya shows. May Bukas Pa (39.5%), Only You (36.5%), Tayong Dalawa (34.9%), TV Patrol World (34.7%) and Boys Over Flowers (26%). The no. 6 to no. 8 positions were struggling to catch up given the large lead by the Kapamilya shows: Zorro (23.2%), 24 Oras (22.4%), and Rosalinda (20.6%).

The Wedding posted a 19.8% share and managed to push back Adik Sa ‘Yo in the bottom with a 18.1% rating.
